Non-Lethal Personal Defense & De-Escalation
MAG Training Session
Purpose
Equip MAG members with practical, non-lethal personal defense concepts rooted in PPCT (Pressure
Point Control Tactics) emphasizing awareness, distance, control, and responsible decision-making for
individuals, families, and community settings.
Training Principles
• Non-lethal and control-based
• De-escalation over domination
• Safety, legality, and accountability
• No experience required
• Women-focused and family-friendly
1. Awareness, Distance & Positioning (PPCT Foundation)
• Reactionary gap and time-distance relationship
• 21-foot rule and rapid distance closure awareness
• Pre-incident indicators (posture, scanning, verbal cues)
• Angle management and movement off the line
• Environmental awareness (exits, barriers, vehicles)
Key Takeaway: Distance buys time. Time buys options.
2. Balance Disruption & Base Control
• Base, posture, and balance fundamentals
• Off-balancing without strikes
• Leverage over strength
• Forward, backward, and rotational imbalance
• Disengage immediately after balance disruption
Key Takeaway: A person without balance has limited ability to escalate.
3. Pressure Point Control Concepts (Limited Use)
• Pain compliance vs true control
• Stress effects on pain response
• Pressure points as temporary control tools
• Used to create space and disengage
Key Takeaway: Pressure points create opportunity, not solutions.
4. OC Spray Overview & Decision-Making
• Civilian OC types and delivery options
• Legal and ethical considerations
• Effective deployment distance
