*Once you have filled out an audition form, you will receive an audition time via email. Please let us know if this audition time does not work for you.*
Performers auditioning should prepare a 16 – 32 bar cut of a song in the style of THE ADDAMS FAMILY. Mia Keesee, our staff accompanist will be serving as accompanist. Please come with your music hole-punched and in a 3-ring binder. Acapella/tracked auditions will not be allowed.
About the Show
THE ADDAMS FAMILY, a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and a dilemma that’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family—a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before—keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

Character Breakdown
GOMEZ ADDAMS - Suave, smart, enthusiastic, passionate. Sentimental family man torn between his wife and his daughter. Loves and adores Morticia more than death. Strong expressive singing voice, comedic actor, good mover. Spanish accent.
MORTICIA ADDAMS - Glamorous, witty – the matriarch of the family. Comedic actress with a sexy, dry wit. Elegant, gorgeous with a cool head and a dry sense of humor. Alto / mezzo soprano Must have natural comedic timing, sing well, strong Dancer / movement.
UNCLE FESTER - The narrator. Larger than life, energetic, childlike. Vaudeville style comedian with tenor vocals. Of no specific sexuality – he is in love with the moon! Excellent comedic timing needed, movement a bonus, ukulele player extra bonus! (But not essential)
GRANDMA - Feisty 102 yr old! Mother of Gomez Fun, quirky, disrespectful old hag. Needs lots of energy – physical role Wild, wacky with a crass sense of humor Strong character actor, comedic role, singing must be characterful.
WEDNESDAY ADDAMS - Gothic teenage daughter – has her father's heart and mother’s wit. Dark cloud exterior but a dry sense of humour. In love with Lucas (a“normal” boy) which leads to manic episodes. Very sarcastic, lots of facial expressions. She genuinely loves Lucas. Strong expressive singer – mezzo soprano with good pop belt voice.
PUGSLEY ADDAMS - Danger seeking, charming, funny – loves being tortured by Wednesday! Close bond with his grandma Energetic troublemaker – is worried about losing his sister to Lucas and plots to stop their romance.
LURCH – This will be played by Dr. Michael Rex.
MAL BEINEKE - Lucas’ stuffy father. Exasperated husband to Alice Conservative, cynical, straitlaced, pretends to be better than others. Loosens up a little a little at the end when he rekindles his love for Alice. Confident actor with some singing.
ALICE BEINEKE - Mother of Lucas, typical suburban “mom”. Cold relationship with husband Mal – smothers Lucas to compensate. Speaks in rhyme when upset. She is highly strung, a woman on the edge who breaks down when she drinks a potion which causes her to speak the truth. Her song is her breakdown! She wants the passion back in her marriage.
LUCAS BEINEKE - Engaged to Wednesday. Hopeful romantic could be played as a geek / nerd. Is willing to die for Wednesday Average American boy, writes poetry, traditionalist but has a crazy dark side and a secret appreciation of the macabre Strong pop / rock singer.
THE ADDAMS ANCESTORS – 5m, 5w (or more if desired, opportunities for flexible casting) - The Ensemble play the ghosts who are the ancestors of the Addams Family – costumes will go through the ages. Each member of the ensemble will have a character and be that character throughout. They are involved in a lot of the action, lots of harmony singing and some great dance numbers. They will pop up throughout scenes and be responsible for scene changes, creating a scene (ie Central Park) and be part of the decor (Family portraits)
