Audition Overview
Please come prepared with a monologue under 1 minute that showcases you and the style of the show.
We may double cast based on those who show up to audition. We encourage you to be as open as possible with your conflicts, we will respect them, new conflicts after accepting the role are much harder to accommodate, and may require recasting your role.
Rehearsals for our Creator’s Stage shows are generally Monday - Thursday evening and Saturday morning. The final rehearsal calendar will be set by the director after all conflicts are in. Not all cast members are called every night especially at the beginning of rehearsals. While putting in conflicts please ensure you put conflicts in for every day of the week.
We believe that theatre is a deeply collaborative art form, and it thrives when a diversity of voices and lived experiences are present in the creative process. The characters in this production are meant to be fully realized and complex, and we are eager to work with actors who can bring authenticity, depth, and nuance to their portrayals. We welcome performers from all backgrounds and identities to help us bring these stories to life in a way that is both truthful and resonant.
Synopsis
In a small-town beauty salon, six Southern women share laughter, tears, and everything in between. Steel Magnolias is a heartfelt and humorous look at friendship, resilience, and the strength it takes to face life’s ups and downs—with hairspray and heart.
