World Wetlands Day

Celebrate World Wetlands Day with us on February 7, 2026, from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM at the Discovery Center!

Each year, World Wetlands Day highlights a global theme, and the 2026 theme is “Wetlands and Traditional Knowledge: Celebrating Cultural Heritage.” This special event will honor the traditional ecological knowledge of the original stewards of this land and recognize the important role wetlands play in supporting healthy ecosystems and communities.

Visitors can explore interactive tables and displays hosted by local organizations, departments, and students showcasing wetlands-related research and conservation projects. It’s a great opportunity to learn, connect, and celebrate the people and knowledge systems that help keep our wetlands thriving.

The event is free and open to the public, family-friendly, and accessible. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate in this engaging community celebration!
