August's Featured Reader: Meagan Youngdahl

About Meagan:

Meagen Youngdahl is a multi-genre writer and a translator of Swedish poetry. She earned her BA in English and Film Studies from UC Berkeley where she translated works by the poets Tomas Tranströmer and Gunnar Ekelöf under the supervision of Robert Hass. Youngdahl studied poetry in the graduate creative writing program at UC Davis and went on to earn a PhD in Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Kansas. In addition to her creative work, Youngdahl is a scholar in the field of (bio)semiotics and served as a researcher for the Dactyl Foundation, a New York-based nonprofit supporting work at the intersections of art and science. Known to her students as Dr. Y, Youngdahl has taught courses in creative writing and literature for the past twelve years in California and then Kansas. She currently teaches in the English department at KU where she is faculty advisor to SNAPS (the Social Network of Aspiring Poet-Scholars). This August marks the ten year anniversary of her arrival in Lawrence, Kansas, a town she is proud to call home.
