Phoenix Gallery
825 Massachusetts St.
September 26th, 2025 Final Friday
6-9 pm
Say goodbye to August (and hopefully its heat) with the Phoenix Gallery this Final Friday!
This month in our Phoenix Underground Gallery we have Brain White’s exhibition “Sacred Impressions: Pointillism and Print”. A local artist, Brian explores biblical themes and new techniques with block prints and oil paintings. Prior commitments prevent Brian from joining us in-person on Friday night, but that’s certainly not to stop you from coming out to support his work!
In the Upper West Gallery, we will have local artist Alex Womack, with his show "Dungeons & Doomers”. His work celebrates the merits of traditional artwork in our digital-driven world with ink drawings and screen prints.
You can meet the artists and gain insight into their exhibition on opening night, September 26th from 6pm to 9 pm.
Opening night music will be provided by local band Coreopsis.

Alex Womack
Lawrence, Kansas
Artist Statement
Alex Womack is a Lawrence-based artist working in black and white pen, ink, and screen-tone transfers. Influenced by American comics, Japanese manga, dark fantasy, horror, and video games, his work blends detailed linework with bold contrast and texture.
A 2017 graduate of the University of Kansas with a degree in Visual Communications, Alex has spent the past eight years in the screen printing and merchandise industry as both artist and salesman. His drawing process is meditative and tactile, rooted in a belief in the enduring value of traditional media in a digital, increasingly AI-driven world.
By limiting his output to black and white, he emphasizes depth and atmosphere through ink, screen-tone, and negative space. Graphite smudges from erased pencil underdrawings often remain on the originals—subtle reminders of the hand-made process. His goal is simple: to create exciting work that fuels his own creativity and inspires others to make traditional art.
Artist Biography
Hi, I’m Alex Womack. I find my escape through art, a good video game and hangs with awesome friends. I’m a graphic designer/salesman in the screen printing and merchandise industry who longs for anything but the cubicle. About five years ago, I picked up my love for drawing again. A computer cannot replicate the tactility of the process. There are infinite worlds and stories that can be told in this medium. I’m excited to share some of mine with you.
You can find Alex’s exhibit in the Upper West Gallery of the Phoenix Gallery.
