I mean, what is MXM2025 anyway? The Lawrence Music Alliance spends all year developing a music creator/business conference to empower the valley's music world and offers a chance glimpse into the battles of the industry for music lovers.
And then, there's the showcase... A meticulously curated collection of artists and bands who converge on the cultural capital of Kansas for one weekend to offer their talents, much like the wares and experiences one would find in the most mysteriously elevated marketplaces of the oldest worlds.
Interestingly enough, only ONE entity is representing the hip hop/rap/pop side of the music field... That entity is RapVeterans...
Led by the enigmatic Anthemous T Rocknrolla and soundtracked by the one and only DJ Demonstr8, this cadre will intrigue and excite. In a world where the sights and sounds of a hip hop show strike as mundane and stepford... RapVeterans wow in several directions, from the timeless energy and magnetism of Anthemous' presence, to the hustle-flow and clever wordplay of F$N Jizzle, the genre-bending sonic bird's-eye view from D&I, the time-honored spirit of the freestyle from the one and only PinchGod (formerly DropJaw), to the soulful crooning sounds of I.T.H., and the explosive collaboration of up-and-coming hip hop producer and beatsmith Maadcxmmander, and the lyrical hero of the working class, the Bernie Sanders of Rap, and LFK's golden tocket to hip hop immortality: TtristanstarR and last but certainly not least, the rhymeslayer du jour, the therapy on beat, the master of the lyrical funk, Yefta...
The camp is joined by the incomparable, the crown prince of Kansas City hip hop, King Kihei.
You don't say, "nah, it's just a rap show"...
You say, "hey, since they're the only rap show in the entire MXM2025 Showcase, let's go see why"
Maybe this one ends up in print, maybe it just stays folklore.
