The priory is over 800 years old, and was established by Augustinian canons, and its history spans from its religious founding to its use in Tudor times, through World War Two, and as a Tudor mansion today.
* Rosie: A young girl in rags who is often glimpsed on the staircase, believed to be hiding from the ghost of Thomas Sackville, a former owner of the priory.
* Dark Monk: A priest-like figure reportedly seen drifting through the arches in the undercroft, possibly linked to the priory's monastic origins.
* Gray Lady: An apparition seen by the moat, said to be mourning her daughter who supposedly drowned in the water. She is sometimes seen shrouded in mist.
* Jolly Chef: A ghost of a chef who is seen by the open fire in the kitchen, possibly a manifestation of the stone tape theory.
* Small Dog: The ghost of a small dog is said to yelp and chase people from the gatehouse.
Other paranormal activity
* Moving furniture, including a bureau reportedly spinning and leaving a figure-eight on the floor.
* Doors opening and closing on their own.
