How to Talk to Congress:
What makes Congress listen and respond to your policy requests? How do you craft a message that makes an impact? This training will teach you the tools you need to start advocating for issues that matter most. From what makes Congress listen to how to craft a powerful message, Adriianna will walk you through the dos and don'ts of effective federal and local advocacy.

Bio:
Adriianna has worked in federal policy as a lobbyist and advocate driving positive policy change for moms and babies around the United States. She was previously the Legislative Director for Senior Appropriations Committee Member Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler. Adriianna led the Labor, Health, and Human Services Appropriations portfolio for the Congresswoman. She successfully helped secure funding of over $10 million for community project funding requests for mental health, substance abuse, and community health centers. She oversaw the creation of the first-ever Stillbirth Task Force at the Department of Health and Human Services, the creation and funding of the Maternal Mental Health Hotline, and first-time funding of the pediatric subspecialty loan repayment program. She has negotiated multiple bipartisan bills, including the PUMP for Nursing Mothers Act and the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. Before Congress, she worked for the Orange County Board of Supervisors as a District Representative – leading the Spanish outreach in Santa Ana, California. She has been awarded grants to conduct field research in Medellin, Colombia. She’s served as part of the American University We Lead cohort of 2020. She received her Master’s in security policy studies from The George Washington University and her Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from the University of San Diego.
