Join Laredo Film Society and @laredoculturaldistrict for an evening of culinary tradition, community learning, and regional short films during CaminaARTE on September 5th at Casa Ortiz.
We'll start with a tortilla-making workshop led by Luna Vela - molinera, anthropologist, chef, and founder of Neighborhood Molino in Austin, TX, a community mill and cultural space dedicated to honoring native food traditions. Her work honors native food traditions, remixing Mexican and Tejana culture through an intuitive lens. Luna previously served as the Director of Masa and Fermentation for several award-wining restaurants across Texas.
After the workshop, we'll screen Bisonte, Luna's experimental video poem exploring cultural heritage, queerness, land, and spiritual inheritance.
We'll close with Ingles Sin Fronteras, the MIRAAA Media Fest award-winning short by Gil Rocha and Tres Tekuanis - an abstract, bilingual narrative reflecting life in a border city.
This event is FREE and open to the public. Nos vemos pronto!
