Coinciding with National Public Lands Day, join Sheldrake for volunteer projects at our local land–the Larchmont Reservoir! We have a couple different projects that would benefit from volunteer efforts:
~ After a summer of visitation, our grounds could use some cleaning. These efforts will: provide a cleaner habitat for resident plants and animals (fish, frogs, turtles, birds, ducks, and more); improve the health and quality of the water as it continues downstream and enters the Long Island Sound; provide a better environment for people and their dogs when they visit.
~Have you seen our new meadow path? Help us complete our meadow-restoration project by laying down gravel and other related tasks. The end result will allow visitors to roam through our meadow, experiencing the flowers, pollinators, and other inhabitants.
FREE, but advance registration is required (drop-ins cannot be accommodated). Please bring your own work gloves, if you have. Meet at the potting shed.
Community-service hours are available! Please specify on the registration form if you’re requesting a completion certificate.
Date: Saturday, September 27
Time: 10:00 am-12:00 pm (participants needn’t commit to the full 2 hours, unless desired; a 30-minute block is helpful)
Register on the Sheldrake website.
