This hands-on course is designed for first responder surface ice rescuers operating at the Awareness and Operations levels, with skill development applicable toward Technician-level ice rescue functions. Training will consist of classroom lecture and practical, scenario-based evolutions. Training Topics:
Ice conditions, thickness evaluation, and formations
Equipment selection, inspection, and rigging
Operational planning and risk management
Cold-water immersion and near-drowning emergencies
Hypothermia recognition, management, and treatment
Scene size-up, hazard identification, and scene control
There is a class limit of 24 Students.
