Grab your flannel and let’s get crafty with a touch of cornstalk charm—it's time to build your very own scarecrow from head to toe! You’re invited to our first-ever Scarecrow Making Workshop, held in the most delightfully unexpected corner of the Fairfield County Fairgrounds, the Pygmy Goat section of the historic Round Barn. Whether you're into classic country charm or scarecrow-chic, you’ll create a one-of-a-kind fall decoration perfect for your porch, garden, or to display at the Fairfield County Fair.
🎡 About the Trail of Scarecrows
This fall, we’re tipping our hats to 175 years of blue ribbons, funnel cakes, and Ferris wheels as we celebrate a huge milestone with this year’s Trail of Scarecrows theme: Fair Fun—A Celebration of the 175th Fairfield County Fair! From prize-winning pumpkins to midway memories, our scarecrows will be popping up across the county to honor everything we love about fair season.
To help you get in on the fun, we’re kicking things off with a hands-on workshop where you can build your very own scarecrow—just in time to join the trail or decorate your front porch.
For just $15, you’ll get everything you need to build your own life-size scarecrow, including framing materials, stuffing, and clothing to dress it up. Thanks to a generous donation from All Saints & Co Consignment Boutique, we’ll have plenty of outfit options on hand. But if you’ve got a vision in mind, you’re welcome to bring your own personal touches, too—plastic shopping bags make great extra stuffing, and accessories like hats, shoes, scarves, or goofy sunglasses are highly encouraged.
🎟️ Space is limited, so don’t delay!
Tickets must be purchased by Monday, September 1 via the ticket link. Because sharp tools and following intricate directions will be involved, we kindly ask that participants be age 9 or older. Finished scarecrows can go home with you the same night, or stay behind to proudly represent at the fairgrounds during the Fairfield County Fair. (Pickup will be arranged after the fair.)
We can’t wait to see your creativity and craftsmanship come to life on September 4th!
