Join us for a weekend of Natural Building on a regenerative Homestead property where we are excited to host Florida’s own Bamboo wizard, half human, half panda and 100% badass… Micanopy Joe Pierce.
This will be the first installment of a two part series on constructing a Bamboo Pavilion. The second weekend will be April 4/5.
::Schedule::
Saturday:
8-9 am: Arrival
9-12: Introduction to bamboo, tool primer, and construction techniques.
12-2: Farm to table lunch
2-5 pm: Hands on learning while doing; cutting structural members and building "space columns"
7 pm: Farm to table Dinner
Sunday:
8-9: Breakfast
9-12: Hands on learning - stand and brace columns and begin floor assembly
12-2: Farm to table Lunch
2-5pm: Hands on learning: Making flooring slats and installing roof rafters.
The total cost of the workshop is 300 for each weekend, or 500 if you enroll in both workshops. Scholarships are available as needed, although our space is limited to ten folks.
We will have home grown food for our meals. For your overnight stay camping is available throughout the 26 acres, beds in dorm style rooms are available by donation, and we have a few private rooms as well, just reach out to us if you prefer this option.

The Friday night before we will be hosting a separate event, a farm to table Feast, if you’d like to attend this dinner as well you can stay Friday and join the feast at a discounted rate!
Bonus Round:
Bring old tools needing new handles we may have a chance to build bamboo handles for them during our downtime.
