Nancy Deheimer grew up in Michigan and has lived in Greensburg, Indiana since 2009. A graduate of Eastern Michigan University with a teaching degree, she has been creating art since childhood, encouraged by a mother who believed in trying every material and idea to keep eight children busy and curious.
Today, she works primarily as a fiber artist. While she enjoys many media, her true passion is batik—working with dye, wax, and fabric, embracing both the mess and the unexpected results. When not using the wax pot, she creates collaged and quilted works from mostly hand-dyed fabrics, including her recent exploration of fabric portraiture.
In this workshop, Nancy will guide students through the batik process while sharing her love of experimentation and discovery. Participants will create a batiked fabric piece and leave with both a finished textile and the skills to continue exploring batik at home. Class is limited to 6 students.
