Francophone Friday 2026
Hello my Lake Charles peeps! This is your reminder that our meeting for January 2nd has been moved to January 9th.
As we begin our third New Year together, let me take this opportunity to thank our past participants for joining the effort to encourage francophones to speak in their heritage language. I’m still a long way from being considered fluent, but this table experience has definitely helped me to make a lot more progress than I ever made by myself. So, thank you for coming and for participating!
Since this regular event is a library program now, anyone is just as free to lead some of these meetings as I am. So, I will be creating a schedule for this year’s meetings. If you’re interested in leading one or more, simply reply below with whatever date you would like to commit. The open dates are as follows:
Feb 6, Apr 3, May 1, June 5, July 10 (library is closed on 7/3), Aug 7, Sept 4, Oct 2, or Nov 6. I will lead on January 9th, Wyatt LeBert has committed to March 6th, and Tara Holland will lead December 4th.
The library staff is willing to help you with the supplies for whatever activity you have in mind if you contact Tara the week before your meeting with your request. Special advertising in the newspaper and on the library website is also at your disposal if you let her know a month before your meeting. And I’ll be happy to disseminate whatever information you want everyone in my contact list to know. If you’re already fluent and you just want to talk French to us during the meeting that you want to lead, mais cher, tu peux fais ça, ouais!
I will have a schedule prepared for January 9, but you are welcomed to reply to this post with the dates you’re available or text me at (337) 965-9507. Remember, there are clock flash cards, fake money, Gumbo Des Mots flash cards, coloring book pages, bingo cards for vocabulary exercises, a CODOFIL table guide with activities and assorted grammar lessons available for you to use. Just let me know what you want to use and I’ll make sure I get them to you in time for the date you want to lead.
Until then, lâche pas la patate!
