The Culture, Art & Music Association of Louisiana (CAM), in collaboration with St. Henry Catholic Church, is pleased to announce the second annual Día de los Muertos Festival, a free, family-friendly event, happening Saturday, Nov. 2, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the Arcade Amphitheater at the Lake Charles Event Center.
This year’s Día de los Muertos Festival will celebrate Our Community, Our Ofrenda, inviting the public to honor loved ones who have passed. Inspired by the universal desire to remember family and friends, the theme creates a shared space for altars, photos and personal remembrances. By making the ofrenda a collective experience, the festival fosters inclusivity, highlights cultural traditions and offers attendees a chance to reflect, honor and connect across cultures. Attendees are encouraged to bring family, friends and photos of loved ones to contribute to the community altar.
“The Día de los Muertos celebration is a meaningful way for our community to come together to honor tradition, celebrate heritage and share in a spirit of remembrance,” said Edwina Medearis, director of The Culture, Art & Music Association of Louisiana. “We are excited to host this second annual event at the Lake Charles Event Center Amphitheater and invite everyone to join us for an evening of culture, art and connection.”
Attendees can expect:
- Live performances showcasing traditional dance, music and storytelling.
- Cultural exhibits and ofrendas (altars) created by community members to honor loved ones.
- Authentic food and artisan vendors offering a taste of Hispanic heritage and local flavor.
- Family activities including crafts, face painting and cultural workshops.
