Friday Happy Hour w/Ben Steer

Ben Steer is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Grand Rapids, MI. His background in classical guitar served as a pivot point for playing electric bass, which he has been studying now for a decade. Formerly of Grand Rapids alt rock group The Zannies (2015-2019), Ben has gone on to collaborate with a variety of West Michigan bands, playing bass and guitar for Bedroom Ceilings, The Hacky Turtles, Elijah Russ Collective, Melophobix, and more. His singing and songwriting style is influenced by 90s alternative rock bands, and his genre floats in the indie-rock realm with quirky song themes and angular stylistic changes. In 2024, his focus shifted to playing more solo shows with his looper and drum machine in an effort to promote the upcoming EP Sisters in the Dark, his first compilation of original works.
Ben is also an active programmer at 88.1 FM WYCE and hosts a bi-monthly radio show on alternate Tuesday mornings from 9am-noon
