Wi Ap Ishākat, Voices and Stories from Indigenous/Afro-Indigenous Louisiana

Join us for an event celebrating Indigenous and Afro-Indigenous voices on Saturday, November 22nd. The Center for Louisiana Studies, That Painted Horse Press, the Flora Levy Humanities Series, and the UL Department of English present an afternoon of stories, poetry, performance, and fellowship with Indigenous and Creole folks from across Louisiana! Come hear speakers, writers, and language revitalization experts from the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana, Choctaw-Apache Tribe, United Houma Nation, Atakapa-Ishak, and Louisiana Creole communities. The event opens at 1pm with an Elder blessing and the first session of storytellers and authors will be from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. The second session starts at 3:20 and closing blessing is at 5 PM.
