Newman & Nicaea: The Newest Doctor & The Oldest Council

Celebrating the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, this lecture by Fr. Clinton Sensat will be an examination of St. John Henry Newman's examination of the Council of Nicaea, especially as it pertains to our ongoing understanding of development of doctrine and discerning the movement of the Spirit in the Church.

Fr. Clinton Sensat is a priest of the Diocese of Lafayette (Louisiana.) Ordained in 2009, he has many years of experience in ministry and teaching. He holds a Licentiate in Sacred Theology (S.T.L.) from the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception and an M.A. in English from the University of New Orleans. He is the author of the book By a Different Way: A Catholic Guide to Pilgrim Spirituality and the co-creator of the Stella Pelegrina Program for Pilgrim Formation. He is currently the pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes in Erath.

The Cardinal Newman Lecture Series is a tradition at Our Lady of Wisdom that dates back to the 1950s. The lecture series is one way the Catholic Student Center at Our Lady of Wisdom offers ongoing intellectual formation in the Catholic tradition on our secular campus.
