Join us to explore the many connections between creative writing and the visual arts during this intimate, guided workshop.
Ekphastic writing is a literary response to another form of art. An example is musician Don MacLean's song "Vincent - Starry, Starry Night," which was his response to Vincent VanGogh's well known oil painting "The Starry Night."
This hands-on workshop will guide you to write in response to what you see and feel about the artwork on display. You may be inspired to write a poem, an essay or start a novel!
The Museum will open for this group of 10 participants, who will be led by noted writer, arts consultant and teacher, Cindy Beer-Fouhy. Cindy is a writing instructor at Sarah Lawrence College in New York. She has held ekphastic writing workshops in the region for years, where she has guided participants to write poetry, literature and personal essays in response to other art forms, including sculpture, paintings and dance.
"A picture (sculpture, painting or illustration) is worth a thousand words."
