4 Elements Earth Education provides programs that introduce Earth Skills—a blend of the ancient arts of tracking, wilderness survival, and nature awareness. Our curriculum and experienced instructors lead children, teens, and adults to read the landscape as stewards of the Earth. Through our programs, a re-thinking of our relationship to nature begins to occur: nature is not simply a resource that we control as a product, but a relationship we must cultivate.
Our Programs are inspired by Indigenous values and the old ways of Earth Skills, and are influenced by Tom Brown Jr. 's world renowned ‘Tracker School’ and each Instructor's own "dirt time" living these skills. Children take part in naturalist studies, wildlife tracking, sensory awareness / mindfulness exercises, and are introduced to wilderness survival skills. All activities are presented within a working philosophy of Stewardship and mutual respect between humans and Nature, and is modeled after our teacher’s lineage of learning from Indigenous cultures.
Every session varies slightly based off of seasons and weather, but generally include: circle time and gratitude sharing at the start and end of each program, sensory awareness and natural movement games, time spent learning about the natural world, and a hands on activity where ‘earth skills’ are shared to further emphasis the bond between humans and the world around us.
We offer Sliding Scale Pricing in order to make our programs accessible to as many families as possible. By selecting a price you can reasonably afford, not only you are helping to ensure financial resources are not a barrier to any child’s participation, but are investing in our staff, these programs, and our organizational mission. Thank you for your support!
