Denim Day

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and one way you can stand in support of survivors is by participating in Denim Day.

Denim Day began in the 1990s after an Italian court overturned a rape conviction, arguing that the victim must have consented because her jeans were so tight the perpetrator could not have removed them without her help. The decision sparked international outrage and became a powerful reminder of the harmful myths survivors continue to face.

Every year, people around the world wear denim to challenge victim-blaming and raise awareness that clothing is never consent.
