Griffith Surgical Skills Qualifying Heats

Do you want to represent Griffith University in the 2025 Intervarsity Surgical Skills Competition? 🩺✂️

The Griffith Surgical Skills Heats are here! Compete in teams of four and put your skills to the test! To represent Griffith, you’ll need to qualify through these heats — only the top scorers will go on to compete against other universities.

🧵 Skills tested:
• Basic suturing techniques (simple interrupted, vertical mattress, horizontal mattress)
• Subcuticular suturing with Aberdeen knot
• Laparoscopic technique
• Hand ties (one-handed square knot, two-handed square knot, two-handed surgical knot, ability to hand tie with suture and gloves)

📅 When: Saturday, 6th September
⏰ Practice session: 1:00 pm | Competition start: 2:00 pm
📍 Where: G40, Room 7.102A/B

*Eligibility*: This competition is open only to clinical year Griffith medical students (Year 3 & Year 4).
