Lace em up for the Family & Fruta Fun Run 5k hosted by the City of Kyle Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with Strength and Endurance Academy in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month on Saturday, September 27 at 8 a.m. at Waterleaf Park, 628 Abundance Lane.
This event will bring families together for a morning of fitness, culture, and community spirit. After the run, participants can enjoy a festive atmosphere with local vendors offering fruit, food, and more.
This FREE 5k Fun Run takes runners, walkers, strollers, … you get it, through Waterleaf Park and the nearby trail system. Attendees can tackle the whole course, just do a portion and come on back, or double it up for a full 10k. There’s no pressure, just fun!
Also, be sure to bring your tangy, sweet or tart side for the Fruta de la Moda Costume Contest, sponsored by Edna's Cleaning Service, where the individual winner can take home $100 or get the whole gang together for the group costume contest where the winners can take home $200.
The fun kicks off at 8 a.m. with brief remarks at 8:30 a.m., an optional warmup at 8:45 a.m., and a take-off time of 9 a.m. with different waves.
Stick around after the fun run and check out multiple fruit-focused food vendors, grab a coffee, chat with members of the Kyle fitness community and watch the Lehman High Mariachi Los Lobos perform at 11 a.m.
Registration is not required to participate, but be sure to arrive early to get your hands on a free Family & Fruta Fun Run 5k t-shirt for the first 100 people.
