Abstract:
In this talk, Prof. Park will reflect on the evolving nature of scholarly communication and the role of research evaluation. Drawing from his experience as Chief Editor of Quality & Quantity, he will discuss key trends in peer review, journal metrics, and editorial practices. Prof. Park will also explore the tension between quality and quantity in academic publishing, and the implications for scholars and institutions. The presentation will include thoughts on global disparities in academic recognition and the potential for reform. Furthermore, he will introduce the “helix-based space and circulation” (HSC) concept to examine the dynamics of scientific knowledge exchanges and scholarly communications. The HSC will include “playful academism”—a new name for digital academic interaction.
We look forward to your participation in this insightful research seminar.
