Mala Vista is a gritty New York City punk‑’n’‑roll outfit that channels the raw spirit of 1977-era bands like the Ramones, Dead Boys, and Johnny Thunders. With members Myke Miranda (vox/guitar), Manny Dominguez (bass/back vox), Erik LAMF (lead guitar), and Ben Heymann (drums), they bring high-energy riffs, melodic choruses, and socially charged lyrics rooted in Latino heritage—"Mala Vista" literally means “bad outlook.” Their debut EP dropped in 2019, swiftly followed by their full-length “Ruthless & Toothless” in 2022, and sophomore LP “Fun Time” in March 2024, recorded at analog-friendly NY HED Studios on the Lower East Side—producing a seamless blend of retro punk attitude with modern crunch .

Their standout tracks like “In The Dark” and “Don’t Owe You” offer snotty, adrenaline-fueled punk statements—evident in punchy lyrics like *“I don’t owe you anything”* . Live, they’ve shared stages with acts like 999, The Mummies, and The Kids, and have made their mark at Jonathon Toubin’s NYC Night Train events .

Critics describe “Fun Time” as a "stone cold ripper of '77‑style punk rock ’n’ roll" that “fully come(s) into its own with killer chops, first-rate production, and fucking tremendous songwriting” —though some dissenters find it a tad cliché, others praise its hooky and energetic revivalism .
