Brian Williams, Step Afrika! is the world’s premier professional company dedicated to the tradition of stepping—a percussive, highly energetic art form rooted in African American fraternities and sororities. Blending traditional African dance, contemporary movement, and a wide range of performance styles, Step Afrika! creates a powerful, rhythmic experience that is both educational and electrifying.

Based in Washington, D.C., Step Afrika! tours globally as the city’s only cultural ambassador, performing in over 60 countries and across all 50 U.S. states. The company’s performances are more than dance—they are immersive experiences that incorporate storytelling, humor, and audience participation. Step Afrika! is also a leader in arts education, reaching tens of thousands of students annually with programs that emphasize teamwork, academic achievement, and cultural understanding.
