Join Ijams and Central Cinema for a wild rumpus of a night on September 12 as Maurice Sendak's tale, Where the Wild Things Are, comes to life on the big screen. This movie showcases a story that explores the themes of childhood emotions, imagination, and the desire for unconditional love.
This Spike Jonze film follows the story of Max. Feeling misunderstood at home and at school, mischievous Max, escapes to the land of the Wild Things, where majestic and sometimes fierce creatures roam the land. They allow Max to become their leader, and he promises to create a kingdom where everyone will be happy. However, Max soon finds that being king is not easy and that, even being with the Wild Things, something is missing.
Bring your family and friends and get ready to watch your favorite childhood book get brought to life!
Doors open at 7 pm; movie begins at dark (~8:30pm). Food trucks and the Ijams beer garden will have tasty meals, snacks, and beverages available for purchase. NO COOLERS AND NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOL PLEASE. Dogs are allowed, but must be on leash at all times. Lawn chairs and blankets are recommended. This event is on the Visitor Center lawn.
