SCIENCE AT WAR: 771 SQUADRON’S PHOTOGRAPHIC UNIT
In conjunction with Orkney International Science Festival...
A one-day exhibition inside one of the buildings of the former World War II airfield. There will be vintage cameras on display, along with a wide range of wartime photographs taken by 771 Naval Air Squadron who were based there. Andrew Hollinrake will be there all day to answer questions about the Photographic Unit.
The exhibition will be on display in the Gas Decontamination Building from 11am to 5pm, right next to the Fire Station at the main entrance. Look for the HMS TERN sign off the main road, then it's the SECOND set of brick gateposts on the right up the Bryameadow Road - look for the HMS TERN sign there, too.
There'll also be a guided tour of the site, including the inside of the Control Tower, at 2pm. If you'd like to book a place on that tour, please contact
