About the event

Local Author Reading & Q+A with Nick Young’s “Siege on Dome 17”
Join us on October 24th from 4:30 - 5:45pm for a reading, book signing & Q+A with local author Nick Young! He will be reading from his book "Siege on Dome 17", a dark post-apocalyptic novel that is sold with a puke bag!

Book synopsis: "A decade has passed since the nuclear apocalypse. The potential last vestige of the human race resides in Dome 17: a massive shelter built of iron and steel. Plagued with starvation, mutation and civil unrest, the residents of the Dome have a new enemy now. Giant insects have congregated outside, scratching, burrowing, desperate to find a way in. Will a rag tag group of maintenance men be able to stop the breach? Or will the evil nature of man inhibit the precious few from banding together and fighting to survive the siege?”

This event is free to attend and is appropriate for adults.

Note from the Author: "I did something very different than other local authors and went for the throat with a gore soaked science fiction / horror adventure about survivors of a nuclear apocalypse facing up against gigantic insects. It's the cheesy sort of setup to a 50s atomic monster flick, but with the nasty edge of splatterpunk horror. I wanted to be a bit outrageous, you see I find horror books to be lacking the horrific these days. I always thought you should be uncomfortable to pick that book up again, or throw it against a wall when it got too much for you, that was the point of a horror book.

My gimmick is a paper vomit bag, which serves as a novelty bookmark. It's designed by my friend, local artist Tom Milton, and you really can puke in it if needed. This is a reference to the 1970s grindhouse theater bags customers were given to draw them in. All this to say, my approach is to dare the reader to pick it up!"

Registration is encouraged but not required! Call the library at 705-567-7966 with the names of your anticipated attendees to save your spot! Please share this event with horror-reading enthusiasts!

See you all soon!
