Design Your Own Lino Print @ Kirkcaldy Galleries

Drop in and get creative with Fife-based artist Claire Christie in this fun, hands-on printmaking session for all ages. Whether you're a curious child, a creative teen, or an adult looking to try something new, you'll explore different printing techniques and make a unique piece of art to take home. No experience needed—just bring your imagination!

This hands-on session also celebrates the rich history of linoleum printing—an art form deeply connected to Kirkcaldy’s industrial past. Once known as the linoleum capital of the world, Kirkcaldy played a central role in the development and global export of lino flooring, which later became a popular material for artists and printmakers. Discover how this humble material helped shape both the town’s identity and the world of printmaking.

Claire Christie is a Fife-based designer and maker behind Clarabella, a creative studio housed in Dunfermline’s historic Abbot House. With a background in surface design and printed textiles from Glasgow School of Art, Claire draws inspiration from local architecture to create sustainable, handcrafted homewares and clothing. Her work blends contemporary prints with vintage fabrics, reflecting a joyful and conscious approach to design.

This is a free, drop in workshop suitable for ages of 5 and upwards. It is part of the Kirkcaldy Galleries 100 celebrations, supported by the Jean Hubbard bequest.
