Education Building
Presented by WildHERness and Powell Gardens, this workshop will be led by renowned Ozark foraging expert Bo Brown. Learn what's needed to start making bacteria-rich, gut-enhancing fermented foods. Take a short hike to learn about collecting wild greens and make your own jar of fermented veggies and greens to take home.
Most of the presentation and class will be indoors, with some time spent outside. Come prepared for the outdoors with closed-toed shoes, bug spray, sunscreen, and gloves. Ticks and poison ivy may be present. You're welcome to bring your own pint or quart canning jar; we will have some on hand as well.
BUNDLE: This class can be bundled with Foraging with Bo Brown (Sunday, April 12 from 9:30 a.m. - noon) for $80. A mixed wild greens/watercress salad lunch with Bo Brown at noon will be included for bundled tickets.
Bo Brown is the founder and director of First Earth Wilderness School and author of the Falcon Guides books Foraging the Ozarks and Foraging Central Grasslands. He has worked all over the U.S. and Belize as a songbird biologist since 1985, and has led courses on foraging, Stone Age wilderness survival, and nature education throughout the Midwest for over three decades. He also presents weekly foraging walks and primitive skills demonstrations at Johnny Morris's Dogwood Canyon Nature Park near Blue Eye, Missouri.
