Our next adventure is set for the third Saturday in October — October 18th at 11:30 AM — and it’s going to be a beautiful fall foliage hike at Chatfield Hollow State Park in Killingworth, CT. This one will be led by David Creaturo!
📍 Where to Meet & Park:
Chatfield Hollow is a big park, so here are the step-by-step directions:
Enter through the main entrance off Route 80.
Go straight, then head up the hill until you see a pavilion on the left and a road on the left.
Turn left there, and you’ll come to a large parking lot at the end — that’s where we’ll meet as a group.
🥾 What to Expect:
Chatfield Hollow is one of Connecticut’s most scenic parks, featuring woodland trails, rocky ridges, boardwalks over wetlands, and even caves and rock outcroppings.
We’ll be taking a moderate hike of about 1–2 hours, enjoying the crisp October air and the changing colors of the season.
The pace will be relaxed, with plenty of chances to pause for photos and conversation.
🧺 After the Hike:
There are picnic areas and open spaces near where we’ll park, so feel free to pack a snack or lunch to enjoy after our hike. It’s a great way to linger a little longer with friends (and let the dogs rest 🐾).
🅿️ Parking:
Free and plentiful in the designated lot above — but please plan to arrive a few minutes early so we can kick off our hike together at 11:30.
✨ Vibe:
This is a free, community event open to all — whether you’re here for the trail, the foliage, or just the fun of being with a great group of hikers. Leashed dogs are welcome, too!
🍁 Come walk with us and celebrate autumn in one of Connecticut’s most stunning natural spots. See you on the trail!
