A big weekend for local wildlife in Killarney!
Join us for a bumper citizen-science weekend celebrating two of our region’s most special species — the Glossy Black-Cockatoo and the platypus.
📅 Saturday 21 March – Glossy Black-Cockatoo Workshop (2pm)
Learn about these remarkable birds and how our community can help protect them. The workshop will cover:
• Glossy Black-Cockatoo habits
• How to identify feeding and breeding sites
• Citizen-science surveys
• Nest-site monitoring to support conservation
📅 Sunday 22 March – Platypus Watch (6:30–8:00am)
Start the morning beside the Upper Condamine helping with our community platypus survey, contributing to research on the secret lives of these unique animals — followed by breakfast with fellow volunteers.
Both events are part of partnerships established by Killarney Bushcare to protect native wildlife.
Whether you’re a long-time member or simply curious about the wildlife around us, everyone is welcome.
📌 See the flyers below for details and registration information.
