Want to dig into a good cause? The Extension Master Gardeners of Dare County need your help during Volunteer Tourism Week at the Outer Banks Arboretum and Teaching Gardens!
Trade your beach towel for gardening gloves and help us get our hands dirty. You’ll be a vital part of two key projects:
Wrangling Invasive Plants: Help us clear out unwanted plants to make room for our native species to thrive.
Cultivating a Children’s Garden: Help prepare a brand-new space where our youngest visitors can learn and connect with nature.
We also welcome anyone who just wants to lend a hand with general arboretum maintenance. Every little bit of help makes a big difference in keeping our gardens beautiful and accessible for all.
This work will be physically demanding—it involves bending, lifting, pulling, and working outdoors in the sun. Make sure you're prepared for a day of hard work! Please wear closed-toed shoes and clothing suitable for outdoor work that you don’t mind getting dirty. You should also bring your own insect repellent and a reusable water bottle.
