'Arise, My Love' - Kildare Choral and Organ Festival 2025

4 in a Bar is delighted to perform at the 2025 Kildare Choral & Organ Festival, our first time to sing in the historic town.

The quartet sings a collection of songs from the Renaissance to the modern day, with classical and popular composers alike extolling the wonders of love.
At its heart lies the Song of Songs, a collection of Hebrew love poetry so rich in imagery and emotion that composers have been drawn to it for centuries, whether in spiritual devotion or more earthly admiration. Surrounding these settings are a selection of pieces from across the centuries, including classical and popular songs that approach love from a range of perspectives: tender, playful, reverent, and witty.
Together, the programme traces not so much a timeline as a tapestry: of longing and joy, distance and closeness, mystery and clarity, woven by composers who, however separated by time or style, have all found inspiration in that most perennial of subjects.
