The Buddy Walk® was created by the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) and has grown to become the premier advocacy event for Down syndrome in the United States. It is also recognized globally as the most visible and impactful public awareness program for the Down syndrome community.
Buddy Walk Kewanee is proudly hosted by Kewanee's Best Advocates, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This local event is more than just a walk. It is a celebration of awareness, acceptance, inclusion, and community support.
Participants are encouraged to form or join teams to fundraise leading up to the event. On the day of the event, all teams will walk together for one unified lap to show our support and acceptance for individuals with Down syndrome. After that, teams—or individual team members—are encouraged to continue walking throughout the event as an ongoing display of commitment to inclusion, acceptance, and community support.
Whether you walk one lap or many, your participation makes a powerful statement—while also raising funds that directly benefit local initiatives for individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
In addition to the walk, enjoy a variety of fun, family-friendly activities, including:
Local vendors
Interactive booths
Bounce houses
Food and refreshments
And so much more!
Join us as we walk and rally together to support inclusion and celebrate the amazing individuals in our community!
