Helvellyn Triathlon 2025

What more is there to say? One of the toughest and most beautiful races in the UK.

The race is set around the English hill of Helvellyn, England’s third highest Peak and located in the stunning Lake District. Standing at 950m, athletes get the chance to summit this beautiful peak before sending back to the shores of Ullswater.

The Lake district is a stunning location for this iconic race.

Participants start with a 1-mile swim in the open waters of Lake Ullswater, known for its crystal clear water. The 38-mile bike leg leaves Glenridding on the A592 along the shores of Ullswater, before turning left to climb past Matterdale End. Left turns at Troutbeck and Threlkeld bring the course onto a flat section next to Thirlmere. A quick descent means the racers will fly past Grasmere. In Ambleside the course takes a left turn up “The Struggle.”The infamous "Struggle" climbs to the top of the Kirkstone Pass, which is a steep and demanding.

From here there is a technical and fast descent to the Transition. The final segment is a 9-mile fell run, which is the most challenging and inspiring part of the event. Helvellyn is England's third highest mountain. This terrain is rugged and off-road, adding to the extremity of the race.

With the options to compete in an individual Triathlon, Aquabike or Team Relay.
