This is going to be a big weekend for trash-busting in the Illinois Valley! Our Fourth round of Clean Sweep will be September 13 and 14, with cleanup from 9 am till 1 pm both days. Find us at the Hub along Kerby Mainline road; you can't miss it! Bring gloves, water bottles, and sturdy shoes.
We'll be clearing the infamous Trash Dam! This will be historic; don't miss it!
Both days, after we finish cleaning up at 1, stick around for the BBQ and Yeti's Ice Cream! And, bring us your best trash finds for the day (or pictures if more appropriate) and during the BBQ on Sunday we're going to award some prizes, including:
Most ironic find
Most useful find
Grossest find
Most poetic find
Most improbable but successful load
Also we'll have a special Trash Art installation both days, including some pieces from our local Spicy Trash Queen, Lou Peterson. And if you have some favorite trash art that you've made, bring that to display in the collection, too!
This will be a family-fun day; we're picking up the trash but we're also teaching the next generation about stewardship and care for nature. And we'll need lots of kids to come eat the gallons and gallons of ice cream afterwards! And see what they can find that might win a prize!
