A Forest Story: Oaks and the Village of Wilikos

Oaks are a keystone species in Sonoma County, but they also hold immeasurable cultural significance for the local California indigenous peoples. Join Desirae Harp, member of the Mishewal-Wappo tribe, on this hike at Sugarloaf full of storytelling.

Tickets are $10 for general audiences, $5 for youth, students, Sugarloaf members, Sugarloaf volunteers, RFO volunteers, and free for children under 12. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Meet at the White Barn parking lot. Bring plenty of water, sun protection, wear appropriate clothing and footwear for slippery/rocky trails, and if desired, a snack. Parking fees apply. Heavy rains cancel.

Ease of access: Meadow and Hillside trails are fire roads with two 100-foot hills and a small stream crossing. Meadow is passable by strollers or wheelchair up to the bridge, about a mile in, but is not officially an ADA trail.
