Heritage Days - Various Locations
Montgomery County Heritage Days, an annual countywide festival, celebrates the county’s historical and cultural sites. Join us throughout the weekend at several Montgomery Parks’ historic sites for free demonstrations, live music, and family-friendly activities.

SATURDAY, JUNE 28

Woodlawn Museum at Woodlawn Manor Cultural Park
16501 Norwood Road, Sandy Spring
Explore the exhibits in the restored 1832 stone barn that highlight local agricultural, Quaker, and African American history.
10 am – 4 pm

Oakley Cabin African American Museum & Park
3610 Brookeville Road, Olney
Tour the restored 19th century log cabin, home to African American tenant families during the late 1800s. Explore the rhythms of West Africa, the Caribbean, South America and Europe through dance with the Cultural Moves Dance Ensemble led by Martha Peterson. Enjoy live music performed by blues musicians Jay Summerour and Eric Selby, storytelling and historic games. Make your own natural floral prints with artist and educator, Katrina Zimmerman. Co-sponsored by Story Tapestries.
EVENT PARKING: 19801 Georgia Avenue, Brookeville, MD 20882. Free shuttle service provided throughout the day.

Agricultural History Farm Park
18400 Muncaster Road, Derwood
Visit the farm park for a hands-on exploration of over 300 years of Montgomery County agricultural history. Farm tours, children’s activities, heritage gardens, and farm animals.

Josiah Henson Museum & Park
11410 Old Georgetown Road, North Bethesda
Tour the Josiah Henson Museum. Learn about the extraordinary life of Rev. Josiah Henson, formerly enslaved on the Riley plantation in Rockville, whose autobiography inspired Harriet Beecher Stowe’s fictional novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin.
PARKING: Across the street at Wall Local Park/Kennedy-Shriver Aquatic Center, 5900 Executive Boulevard

Thomas Harper Cabin at Brookside Nature Center
1400 Glenallen Avenue, Wheaton
Tour the restored, post-Civil War log cabin from an African American community of Jonesville. Explore the Harper family history through hands-on activities, live blues music featuring Jay Summerour & Eric Selby, spoken word & poetry performances by Regie Cabico and tours. Co-sponsored by Story Tapestries.
