Winter Sowing Workshop

The public is invited to join the CUSH Environmental Justice Task Force on December 10th for a hands-on winter sowing workshop. We are pausing our learning about urban tree canopy to engage in this time sensitive activity to have robust perennial native plants ready for next spring. Since many native seeds require cold stratification in order to germinate, January and February are the best times to sow those seeds in containers that are then put outdoors in a natural environment.

Bring one or more clean milk/distilled water containers, scissors, and a sharp knife or a hand drill to prepare your own containers. A limited number of free native plant seeds will be available at the workshop.
