Located south of Coventry, Stoneleigh Abbey offers an immersive ghost hunting experience amid its extensive woodland and historic estate.
History
Over the years, Stoneleigh has hosted notable figures like King Charles I, Queen Victoria, and Jane Austen, making it a site of great historical importance for visitors interested in the past.
It had humble beginnings as a Cistercian monastic house in 1154. After the Dissolution of the Monasteries, the estate was acquired by Sir Thomas Leigh, Lord Mayor of London in 1558, who converted Stoneleigh Abbey into a comfortable family home.
In 1806, the estate passed to Rev. Thomas Leigh. He came to view his inheritance, bringing with him his cousin Cassandra Austen and her two daughters, Cassandra and Jane Austen.
Is it Haunted?
Given its rich history and many unexplained happenings, Stoneleigh Abbey’s haunted reputation is sure to intrigue all ghost hunters and paranormal enthusiasts.
Most frequently seen by staff and visitors is a Cistercian monk; however, it doesn’t stop there… Multiple witnesses have reported seeing paranormal activity, disembodied voices and chilling cries have been heard from empty rooms. Doors slamming on the upper floors are a regular occurrence. Dark shadows and numerous light anomalies are often seen in the darkened corridors.

Personal Experience
While walking around the ground floor with a staff member, we clearly heard a piano being played in the next room; however, on inspection, no one was there.
