Vlerksleep

"Vlerksleep," the Afrikaans translation by Frans Swart of Peter Quilter’s “The Dating Game,” is a witty, laugh-out-loud comedy exploring the awkward and unpredictable world of blind dating—made even more outrageous when you’re in your fifties. Starring David James, Elma Potgieter, Richard van der Westhuizen and Bertha le Roux-Wahl, the play follows recently divorced Anton and Louise as they navigate a string of eccentric and disastrous romantic encounters where nothing goes as planned. Directed by Swart, known as South Africa’s “farce king,” this production offers sharp, clever humour with universal appeal, reminding us all why blind dates so rarely succeed. Quilter’s internationally acclaimed works have been performed in over 40 countries and translated into more than 30 languages, and “Vlerksleep” promises to be another hit.
