Safety Volunteers: Come join the mystical mushroom journey to safety! We are very lucky to be able to host a full weekend of Safety Extravaganza at our new Myschievia home! Renegade, our friendly Flipside fire lead, has also offered to run a mock ICS incident that will engage all safety departments so that we can really get to know our roles within the ICS structure.
WHO:
MEATS, Rangers, Fire, Echelon, and Sanctuary volunteers who have not already had training this year.
DATES:
Friday, September 19th through Sunday, September 20th
SCHEDULE:
TBD!
LOCATION:
Llama Land Ranch, 9059 Co Rd 2403, Tool, TX 75143
Overnight camping is available, but you may also come just for the day.
DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS!!!!! This venue allows service animals only! There really are llamas at Llama Land Ranch and llamas do NOT like dogs and will attack a loose pet. Bringing your pet risks their life. Are we clear on the no pets thing? Good, moving on….
If you can’t attend, ON-LAND TRAINING will be done on Friday. Rangers from 1-5 pm, Fire from 5-6 pm, Sanctuary from 6-8 pm, Meats from 8-10 pm. Please reach out to your Lead to see about additional virtual training opportunities.
Note: Please complete your independent ICS training prior to the Expo if you are not previously certified. If this training is not completed by burn you will have to be reassigned if your volunteer role requires ICS training.
Roles that require FEMA Training - ICS 100: Shift Supervisors and MHA
Roles that must ALSO have FEMA Training - ICS 200: Leads and Duty Chiefs and MHA
You know the drill - it's a burner event, so bring along everything you need, but at the very least bring a folding chair or a comfy floor cushion, your water, and anything else you know you will be wanting.
