Inspiring FREE event this Saturday!
Keighley Cougar's legend, Danny Lawton, is compering the Airedale Shopping Centre Stage, and joining us for a sing-along as a member of Keighley Chorus!
Danny Lawton played for the Keighley Cougars between 2011 and 2017, and was voted onto the Team of the Decade by Cougar fans in 2020. Now you get to hear him sing... and you can even join in if the mood takes you!
Danny explained:
“I have so many brilliant memories from my time with the Cougars. It was my first taste of first-team rugby. Then we won the League One Grand Final. Scoring in that game was a really proud moment.
I have so many memories and stories of all my teammates. The fans were fantastic. I can’t thank them enough for their support. I recently played again, in the Danny Jones 10th Anniversary game, with former teammates and fans. It was like we’d never left; it was amazing.
A lot of people won’t know this, but I also love to sing. My love of music began with my Grandad. He would teach me piano and guitar, and we’d sing and play instruments in his loft. I was always shy to sing, but as I got older, I learned to just go for it. It makes me happy.
I’m really looking forward to Compering the Airedale Stage with Hannah at the Keighley Town Council Christmas Lights Switch-On, and singing with The Keighley Chorus on the day.”

Everyone is welcome to come along and raise the roof with uplifting songs that you learn-as-you-go at the Keighley Chorus. Drop by the Piano in Airedale Shopping Centre to join in or listen to this joyful singing workshop with choir leader, Hannah Butterfield.
Hannah is working in Keighley with Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture, and she's been running this group for a year now. It's a free activity in the town centre that celebrates the community spirit that Keighley has in abundance:
“Singing is so good for your wellbeing, physically and mentally. We know there are so many unsung heroes (pun intended!) in Keighley, and lots of brilliant singing groups. And this project has helped us find those people!"
Just pop along to the Airedale Shopping Centre Stage on Saturday 22nd November 2025, between 3pm and 4pm for a festive community sing-song!
