Family Homestead Weekend July 26-27 Bring Your Family to Homestead with Our Family! Children welcome! From gardening, composting, soil health & fertility to managing livestock, delegating tasks, and cultivating a space where everyone in the family can participate – You will leave this weekend equipped with foundational homesteading know-how, and have a blast doing so!
Jack and Nicole Lamont established Frog Belly Farm in 2020 when their children were 5 & 3. While the kiddos were lil’ helpers at their humble gardening projects before the farm, this was the first time they would be living alongside livestock, gardens, daily chores and more. It was an adjustment, and not particularly easy. Raising a family presents many challenges – even before you bring home hens and goats and flats of plants. Yet, amidst the ups-and-downs, hardships and hurdles, we have created a thriving homestead where the kiddos are creating meaningful, respectful relationships with the land and animals, and are active participants on the Frog Belly Team.
If you are dreaming of your own homestead, a productive victory garden, or coop of hens to feed your family wholesome food – but don’t know where to start, not sure how to get the family involved, have questions, concerns, thoughts, or ideas, or just bone-tried from the day-to-day of parenting – this is the weekend for you. Join us as we go through the nitty gritty of homesteading, while cultivating joy, empowerment and family connection. We look forward to sharing time, perspectives and abundance with you all!
Parents: We are here to hold space for your family homesteading concerns regarding time, chores, responsibilities, building resilience, interactions with livestock (food vs pet) and more. This is a judge-free zone – a safe space where we can all connect over a desire to produce fresh food and a connection with the wonderful land around us. We are stronger when we work together.
Children are encouraged to participate in every activity, however there will be plenty of options for kiddos to explore – like woods walks, making fairy houses and forts, various art and crafts. We will not have babysitters on hand.
Tent and van camping welcome. We do not have hook-ups, but there is access to our kitchen, restroom, laundry and den. If you have a skoolie or large RV, let us know in advance so we have an idea where to put you.
During the weekend we will:
