Want to write about your outdoor adventures or travels? Whether you're just starting out or looking to sharpen your skills, this is your chance to take your storytelling deeper—and wilder.
6-7 September 2025.
Across two days, you’ll hike 15km on the Six Foot Track in the Megalong Valley in the Blue Mountains, cross the Cox’s River, sleep off-grid at a remote eco lodge, and wrap it all up with a long lunch and wine tasting at a boutique vineyard.
Along the way, you’ll:
 Develop your voice and style
Learn about story structures and angles
Explore personal essays, features & other formats
Get real-time feedback on your work
Practice interview skills around the campfire
Learn about sensory storytelling after a wild swim
Learn how to pitch (if that’s your goal)
Led by adventure writer Brooke Nolan, this is writing, unplugged—with a small group, big views, and space to write in the wild.
 Giving back with every step:
This retreat is delivered in partnership with Emu Trekkers, a not-for-profit hiking tour company run by volunteers. All profits go to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, supporting equal access to books and storytelling in remote Indigenous communities.
