A New Year is here, and with it a new edition of Battles In The North!
For another time, blades will flash and feasts will be held in a HEMA event that strives for hospitality and martial prowess!
This year we will have the following tournaments:
LONGSWORD TOURNAMENT (OPEN)
A staple of most of HEMA, the Longsword offers spectacular fights and very dynamic exchanges!
WOMEN'S LONGSWORD
A Longsword tournament where only ladies can participate!
SABER TOURNAMENT
For the first time in our history, we are holding a saber tournament! What is more fascinating is that all saber styles are allowed, from gymnasium sabers to eastern ones anything goes, so bring what you want to fight with, as long as it complies to our safety regulations! More details on that will be announced in upcoming posts!
BLADEMASTER
The tournament which has become a hallmark of the Battles In The North HEMA event, the Blademaster Tournament is a mixed-weapons, challenge-based, double elimination tournament, where your swords can be chosen from a table prior to every single fight! It is an excellent testing ground for comparative study of weapons, as well as the level of each swordsman's adaptability and resourcefulness, as he tries to take advantage of his weapon's strengths and work around his weapon's weaknesses! It offers memorable duels, where you will see people fighting with a lone nimble messer, an arming sword in each hand, with longsword against sword & buckler or saber, or even in straight up rondel duels!
The fee to participate in Battles In The North 5 will be 50€ for the first weapon category and 25€ for every next one, with the Women's Longsword category only costing an extra 10€ instead!
